Workload of SSE/ESR

Talking about workload, the biggest worry of teachers is not knowing what to do. This often means over- preparing. Two years ago, we did not know how SSE and ESR are related and how to go about them, so we tended to have many forms to fill in. That I think was a process of groping about, and some teachers complained about the many forms to fill in. Gradually, however, in the last couple of years, we have come to understand that SSE has to do with internalisation, for after each day's teaching, a teacher will evaluate one's work. This is the gist of SSE. Our school will now minimise paper work. For records of meetings, we would only make some notes on the main points so that in the next round colleagues can have some reference to the strengths and weaknesses in our teaching. Our paper work has been reduced to the very minimum [after ESR], but in fact teachers are doing self-evaluation every day, and we do not think a lot has been added to our workload.
