Collaborative lesson planning ties in with peer observation

In fact, our collaborative lesson planning and peer lesson observation are closely linked with our school's major concerns. For example, in one year a major concern was to improve teachers' questioning skills. So we focused on some techniques for asking questions in our collaborative lesson planning sessions, and then during peer lesson observation, we paid particular attention to teachers' questioning techniques, and their effect on student response and the lessons. In another year, a major concern was how to engage student participation in classroom activities. So when we did the lesson planning and lesson observation, we also focused on making lessons interactive. We looked at whether students were participating interactively, and whether the activities were able to spark off any interactivity and whether students learned better.
