Conducting teachers' meetings effectively

The monthly staff meeting is scheduled for one hour and a half. We think longer meetings are not good, so we hope teachers can be more focused in their discussion. We have taken some unusual steps. If any committees or departments want to propose a topic for discussion, they would post the topic and time needed on the board before the meeting. Teachers can respond by submitting their written comments to the teachers in charge of these topics. These views would be raised in the meeting, and other teachers can chip in. But that means the time for discussion will be very short, only from 5 to 10 minutes or so.

In case the discussion time of 5 to 10 minutes is not enough, teachers could go on discussing by writing notes to the teachers in charge [after the meeting]. Every meeting, then, can deal with a variety of topics that concern different committees and departments, within a manageable time.
